The 2nd Computational Mathematics Meeting - Scientific Computing with Automatic Result Verification was organized by the Mathematics of Computation Staff of Curso de Pos-Graduacao em Ciencia da Computacao (CPGCC) - Instituto de Informatica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)- in association with Delegacia Institucional da SBC/UFRGS. The meeting was an international event in which lecturers from several countries (Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and Russia) were present. It preceded the second workshop of Arithmetic, Intervals and Symbolic Processing, which was held in Recife (PE, Brazil) during the annual meeting of Sociedade Brasileira de Computacao (Brazilian Computing Society), from Aug 4th to 9th, 1996.

This meeting aims to bring together researchers and students that are interested in the area of interval mathematics, scientific computing and automatic result verification, having in view the interchange of experiences, qualification of new professionals and definition of researches and cooperation together in those subjects.

The speeches were given in Portuguese and in English, depending on the lecturers nationality.
